Hi Good question
No Dali is not a manufacturer it is a "protocol set out in the technical standard IEC 62386" available to all ballasts manufacturers that wish to use it.
if you wish to retrofit your existing lamp you simply purchase a Dali enabled ballast from either us or anywhere else (we will have favourable pricing and do packages)
GHL ProfiLux are developing the interface to go between the profiLux and the ballast.
A Dali ballast needs a driver interface and this is where the Profilux comes in, just like the 54w dimmable 1-10V ballast needs also.
The beauty here is of course DALI comes in all ranges of wattages and has other major control benefits
OSRAM - LUTRON - PHILLIPS all make dali enabled digital dimming ballasts
To make it simpler to explain
DALI = New technology Digital
1-10V controlled Ballasts = Old analogue technology being phased out, thats why ballasts manufacturers are not extending the dimming wattage options of 1-10V ballasts
GHL ProfiLux is the first controller manufacturer to leap up to this technology and being ProfiLux you know it will be rock solid technology. Other controller manufacturers have not even launched the old 1-10V interfaces, so while they play catch up we move on to yet another level
