I completely reject a culture which degrades women, suppresses other religions, and where the governing powers rule by fear, torture and repression. And unfortunately these are the cultural values of the entire Arab world, whether we are talking about orthodox Shi'ites in Iran or secular Arabs in Sadaam's regime. The individual nuances may vary but the basic value system is the same.

That was a cut and paste, can't remember who said that....

USA, try to find a woman who makes the same amount of $$ as a man in the same position...

suppresses other religoins? talk to David Koresh... and others

USA, rule by fear torture and repression?? The US didn't take any POW's in afganistan when they went in there... odd isn't it that the Military saw fit to label all prisoners terrorists therefore the Geneva convention didn't apply to them..

George Bush and the American people may not be terrorists in their eyes or ours but to the populations of the Arab world he MAY be.

Although I see your point I find it tough to swallow that the US even gives a flying crap about what is happening to the people in Iraq. Did the US or the UN want to go into Afghanistan before the Twin towers.. hell no, women were being stoned for reading, kids were being stoned for going to illegal schools ( all were illegal) families were being executed for practicing other religons, not a single thing was done by the UN in the way of stopping Bin Laden UNTIL the twin towers then all the sudden, they had to go in and save all these poor oppressed people???

I spent 5 years in the Canadian Armed forces, we did stuff that would curl your toe nails. We did peace keeping duties we also did aggressive duties, hell I was on a destroyer that fired live at a russian submarine. The Canadian armed forces are in the gulf, and on the ground and they are contributing more to this War than some of the countries that say they do support the US.

Whether I support the US actions or not doesn't really matter, one thing that does matter is that you can watch all the news you want, you can read TIME or what ever you want, but in the end you will never know the entire truth. While in the forces my ex wife was in Baden Baden German when the Chernobyl reactor went, we over here were being told nothing to worry about, no problems anywhere, life is good etc... in reality, kids were being shaved, pets were being put down, shaved at the very least. Play grounds were buried and rebuilt, fall out was a huge problem and a huge fear for them, but our news services kept telling us, its a lovely day for a hike in the Black Forest.

Reality bites, people are being killed, that is the saddest thing of all, all children deserve a parent to comfort them in their fears, even if they don't share the same religous values we do.
