What I was suggesting is using 2 or 3 smaller glass braces rather than 1 wide one, positioned under the wood braces so you don't lose too much access to your tank.
With the disclaimer that I have much more experience with wood than glass, I think that ought to work.

I see what you mean about the bottom of the trim deflecting, good point.
Well I may have to just put the brace in. I just want more room as a convenience while working on the tank.
Cleaning 230 gallons of water up off the floor would be most inconvenient. LOL Probably not worth the risk.
