My jury-rigged contraption actually did pretty well on my old 46 gallon although I didn't need a heater anymore with the big honkin' mag on in there.

I've done the same thing but I hooked mine up to a Mag5. Can't believe what I pull out every 3 days
. Because of the extra power, I need to keep the collection cup as high as I can, but it's definetly worth it...
