Well, it's part of the tiger salamander complex, but it doesn't metamorphose like the others so it largely keeps its gills and remains aquatic (apologies if i messed something up... im not well versed with amphibians). a quick google search should provide tons of info. I dont blame you for being fascinated by these guys. cute and wicked cool. and, unfortunately, very much endangered. critically so. go ahead, do a search on IUCN on them. something about mexico urban expansion and draining of the lake where they lived... kind of a sad story really.
