The city has just notified us that on Sunday there is a planned power outage for 6 hours. I have an old UPS power supply that I used to run my computer on, I will test it but as I recall it makes a lot of noise to let you know the AC is out to let you shut down your computer.

Does the Canadian Tire version automatically supply power if you are not home or do you need to manually plug it in? I would like to get something I can use with a bit of security when away for the weekend or longer.
