No idea why you would want to do a mix by hand ., I never have and never wanted to. Its a maxijet ph that mixes up the kalk whenever you want. Plug this into a timer and your set. I ran mine with a auto top off system. the float valve drops turns on a pump in a fresh water resevoir pumping this water through the kalk mixer and therefore pushes kalk into the tank.
