Great to hear you have done your research! The bio cube in question is not a store display unfortunately.
As far as their being shy, I would say that depends on what you have them with. They are not the best fish to have if you have larger fish around. We would say they are best suited for smaller, quieter aquariums. Also deeper fish in general we find quite hardy and adjust readily to aquarium life.
