Calgary is flat ??? :? :?: I guess it's no Hong Kong, but it's no Delta B.C. or Houston TX either. When I had to visit Houston in the fall for a couple of weeks ... it felt like I was in a fish-eye lens, you know how the edges kind of curl up, and the center is at the deepest part of the depression of a bowl? That's what it was like down there. Block after block after block and you never go up or down more than 1" (unless you go in a building, or a freeway overpass). It was totally unnerving to never be able to see your surroundings.
I guess the NE of Calgary is pretty flat. I'm on the SW edge of the city, I drive no more than 30 minutes and I'm into the rockies. I guess we're not right in it, but at least we're closer than some. Edmonton is .. um .. what is it, a 2.5 hour drive from the mountains? Or maybe not that far, but regardless the mountains are a farther drive than they are from Calgary.
That said, this is all not to say I wouldn't move to the Island in a heartbeat. I do miss a large body of water nearby; and despite that I've known nothing else my entire life, I still cannot get used to those danged Chinooks (that's spelled M-I-G-R-A-I-N-E ...

)
It is a prairie town I guess .... yeah it's nicer in BC, that's why we all go there for vacations!

But it could be worse. Oh well, whatcha gonna do...
