They take almost a month to make as ,after the carving process and contouring the feather groups , each barb of each feather is burned into the wood as close as possible with a pyrographic pen and then painted with repeated thin coats of acrylic paint until a deep hue appears !!
The carvings need to be handled almost like a real bird as even the moisture from your hands can spoil the finish .
