Yeah, AliasWavefront ... it was too many letters to type in. :D

About going back to school ... sometimes. Yeah, the tools are geared more for the artists so that they can create. And that is the way it should be. I never could draw, that's why I went into CG :D My interests were mainly in the creation of tools so that people who COULD draw could do so without having to worry about the math. (Man, I used to understand math. Now I can hardly calculate a tip when I go out to a restaurant! )

The stuff we were working on in the Human Performance Lab at UofC was pretty keen. We took a geometric model of a human skeleton. We then took human models/actors and taped little balls at strategic points along joints and muscles, and filmed them at various angles of them performing various activities such as walking, running, swinging a glof club, etc. We then took the paths the coloured balls took, and applied them to the geometric model of the skeleton. Then the kinesiology people would do .. um ... kinesiology stuff ... like investigating various stresses on joints etc. (At that point my job was done ... I'm just a software hack.) It actually was pretty interesting work, but being a research environment meant the pay kinda sucked, and my entire existence depended upon the projects getting various funding, and .. well some other factors too, made it overall a fairly stressful lifestyle... so I bailed when I got an offer for full-time work. Whoops.
