that is a subjective thing, the first report was a 150 blowing away 400 watt systems but it was a biased test, the 150 was being tested with an ideal reflector and the 400 with none.

Me and Same did a test on a DE VS SE bulb, both using reflectors but the SE on a HQI ballast and the DE on an eletric HQI ballast. the SE had a higher output.

On further tests with out ballasts it seams the SE bulb driven by a HQI ballast puts out equal to or more PAR than the DE and will also cover a larger area more evenly. but as for anything look hard enuf and you will find tests that contradict tests and so on and so on
