They're super-cute and friendly dogs. They are prone to a host of genetic problems, so quality breeding is a must to avoid problems with deafness, eyes and joints. I truly wouldn't discourage anyone, as they are terrific dogs, but in my experience (years of working in the pet industry), you'll get to know your vet better with this breed than most. Buy from a breeder, and ask direct questions about the parents health histories. Don't buy any pup if you can't meet the mother!
