Heavy rainfall warning for
City of Calgary continued.

60 to 100 mm of rain is expected through Saturday.

A low pressure system is developing over central Montana this morning and is expected to intensify this afternoon into this evening moving into southern Alberta tonight. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are occurring today over southern Alberta which should become more widespread this afternoon into tonight as more unstable conditions develop. Rain heavy at times is expected to continue tonight especially along the foothills from Calgary north to Rocky Mountain House and Nordegg. Rain will gradually shift north and east into central Alberta on Saturday. General rainfall amounts of 60 to 80 mm are expected over the warning area by midday Saturday with locally higher amounts of 100 mm along the foothills mainly between Calgary and Rocky Mountain House.

Farther south, in areas hard-hit by last weeks storm, rain is expected as well, but the amounts will be less with values in the 40 to 60 mm range, still significant but not of the same magnitude as the rains expected farther north. However any additional rainfall In this area will further heighten flooding concerns in the area.
