they were worried the this might cause a tsunami effect further up the coast from california (like van island area). they ran around today door to door warning everyone to head for higher ground.

no they didn't run around door to door warning to head for higher ground, messengers were sent out to key places with lists of places to inform about the warning, no evacuation was even started. Also Port alberni does have a tsunami warning system as does the whole west coast of US/Canada. the did find one snag though that they have to work on is a faster means to let key players know. (they had a big thing on it last night on the news)
