The way I interpret Ghandi's statement is that in the grand scheme of the vast universe (14 billion lights years from one end to the other), what an ordinary individual does on a daily basis is minor. But minor or not, do it anyway as it does have an impact on the people and the world around us.
Take, for example, water changes. A 15% weekly water change in your tank may seem insignificant, but it is important that it gets done. The same could be applied to testing water chemistry, or being kind to a stranger, or saying I love you to a loved one, or getting off this dang computer to get on with the rest of my day
