I would do the same thing I am doing with my reef bones as well as a couple pieces of base....I have a 30G drum I use as my waste water collector when I do water changes, the last waste water I kept with a couple power heads....just put the rock in there, let it sit a couple days to a week, drain some water out, do another water change, put it in there, you are dumping it anyway...may as well put it to use....use it for cycling the new rock. Even with base or bone rock, you never know where it came from or how it was stored between the time of cultivation to when you get it.
