I do have a Regal tang in my 77gal tank. Although he is 3-4", I find now more than ever that these creatures NEED a larger tank and that was my main reason for getting a bigger tank now. You can see how they stride across the wall of the tank so quickly and how they get bord really fast. I feel so bad for him....they NEED bigger! Tank upgrade COMIN my friend!
I would say if you get a small one, sure. But if you have no intentions in the near future of upgrading to a bigger tank, then thats just not fair to the regal, he won't be happy, then dont get a regal.
Of course another option is getting a tiny one and growing it up a bit get a bigger tank. Or when it gets to big, if your not ready for an upgrade I'm sure you would have no problems selling him in the livestock forum, so the regal could go to bigger home. But in that case... can you let go when that times comes if you can't upgrade tank? Is it fair to the Regal to be in such small quarters.
