- Our solar system is 10 light hours from one side to the other (don't know if that includes the Kuiper Belt or not)
- The entire Milky Way is about 100,000 light years across
- Earth is located on one of the spiral arms of our galaxy and is about 26,000 light years from the center of the galaxy
- The newly discovered dwarf galaxy in Sagittarius, only 60,000 light years away, is spiralling into the Milky Way (so I think we'd better look out

in a few thousand light years

)
- The nearest large spiral galaxy like the Milky Way is the Andromeda galaxy, about 2.7 million light years away
- The distance to the most distant object seen in the universe is about 18 billion light years
- Nearest grocery store is a four minute walk from our condo (not found by Google)
