That is a bit odd i'd say. I had 2 X Mag 9.5 pumps running on my 131 and it was silent as can be.
I wouldn't think again about recommending a newer/bigger Mag pump with a manifold system to go to...

I use a handy little tool that plugs onto the end of the tube, and ejects the silicone through a tiny hole right in front of a nice rounded smoothing edge....
