4" sounds a bit close to me. I'd raise it up to between 6-8" and see if your temp goes down a bit.

I lowered it down a bit a few days ago, and it seemed to puff up more at night. I'll put it on the bottom tonight, maybe under a cap for a few days and see what that does.

Good info, that might explain why the red brain I got hasn't done well in my tank under more intense lightng than it's previous home.

I second that. I had that happen with a bunch of these little sand sifting snails (can't remember ther name of them) and while my tank didn't crash, I did have a cyano bloom.

I've only had my tank as a BB for about 3 weeks now, and its got a green algae covering. The tank is just going through the usual diatom cycle.
I have my pistol and YWG pair in the tank too....

If your fish have developed Ick I wouldn't put them back into the tank. Set up a hopsital tank so you can treat them with hyposalinty or copper if need be.
Watch your LPS, if they are doing ok...

Add lionfish to that group. I lost a dwarf to Hyposalinity not knowing that they are more sensitive than your average reef fish.

I think the general diference is that the males have either a distinguishing feature or more vibrant coloration, depending on the type of anthias. They are much like African cichlids in that regard....
