Too much light? Sometimes corals deflate to protect themselves from too much light. If you think this might be the case, try moving it to a dimmer area of the tank for a while.

They are mounted in the hood, which situates them a little higher then I think they were intended. I'm going to try and post some pics in my tank build thread to see what everyone thinks.

I ended up getting 2 24" Nova extremes for a total of 4 lights. Added them to my existing T5 to make 6. It's hard to look at such a dim tank now, being that I've downsized from my 400 watt MH. I'm...

It's too bad shipping is so risky this time of year. Save some for me for when the weather gets nice.

Are you looking for people in your area? If you are flexible about shipping we could talk. I have a whole bunch of corals that always need trimming.

I hope the T5 lights I order come soon. Right now I'm lucky if the light is staying on even half the time. My poor corals and fish don't know what the heck is going on!

Good call on the Giesmann Actinics. I've been using the German pure actinics for a long time and find them to be second to none as far as actinics go. I also agree with Doug about the Fiji purples. I...

Kalk is great as an additive to maintain your calcium and Kh. It's a PITA to dose though if you don't have a reactor. I use a bucket with a IV drip line attached to it. It clogs up all the time, and...

Wet newspaper in a zip lock works well too, for summer time shipping.

I ended up ordering 2x 24" dual T5 fixtures (Nova Extreme). They have parabolic reflectors, but don't have fans in them to increase the cost. Each comes with a 10K and an actinic, which I'll likely...

Check out this article, it should explain everything you really need to know about suppliments. Half way down is the suppliments part.

The one I had in mind is the New Wave 4 bulbs fixture. It's economical because it isn't pretty, but it would be housed in an enclosed canopy type thing anyway. It has individual "German" reflectors.

I would miss the shimmering effect that MH gives, but I kind of want to try something new. I have 2 24 watt T5 actinics right now so I could devote all four bulbs to a full sprectum of bulbs. I have...

Lighting questions
As far as light intensity is concerned, how do T5's compare to MH? For example, would 4x 24 watt 10000K compare to a 150 watt MH?

I just checked out REd Coral's web site to see their pricing and noticed that my ballast should still be under warranty. I've only had it for 2 years. Now if I can just find the reciept.
