The bumps on my fish looked a bit like bubbles, too. It ate and swam around normally and did not appear to be sick, either.
Have you raised the temp in your tank?

I replace them when they start falling apart or when they lose their rectangular...

Oops, I forgot to mention phosphate in the tapwater which is linked to cyano growth. Prime will do nothing to neutralize phosphate.
Do you have any macroalgae in the tank to utilize nutrients?

I had similar bumps on one of my fish about a year ago. They were too big to be ich and were on the body, fins and tail. Talked to the lfs about it and after going through his book on fish diseases...
