You can actually use them to run a system the same way you'd use the other probiotic product lines out there. I use to run bak+start3 combo on my nano, sans reactor. Worked great.

I keep them under 250W Halide. But honestly, you could do the same or possibly better (1.5 year old bulb) under any number for T5's.

You got lucky... Don't know who told you they nibble corals, but they screwed you. One of the most reef safe fish and it's pretty difficult to get a good one :(
