Algae ID please

Quite a bit of this green stalk like algae is growing on my LR. Personally it's a nuisance algae for me because it's a pain to remove. What is it called and what's the best way to remove it.

Yeah, impressive looking tank. Wish I had the room for something larger than my 55gal. What substrate are you using?

HARAKIRI !!! The tale of the suicidal invertibrates

So I've had my tank cycling for 6 weeks and I figured it's about time I added a clean-up crew to take care of the algae I so patiently turned a blind eye to while the tank cycled. Went to J&L to...

I'll have to chime in and agree with most that J&L is an excellent store with outstanding customer service. By far the best LFS in Vancouver. I've often wondered if the "J" in J&L stood for Jeff.

Thanks for replying. So am I to leave the diatom and algae? I was planning on vacuuming the sand and cleaning the glass but if it's food for the snails shall I just leave it? It's rather unsightly.

So I'm just starting out with my first sw aquarium (55gal) and I think I've done most of my homework but I'd like to be sure that what's occurring in my tank is normal.
