I would agree go with the PC's, they have way more output for the same wattage. By the way where are you getting the workhorse ballast from? I think i'm going to get one to overdrive my NO's.

Lighting for clams?
So run the 400 at 20k and the 175s at 10k. Would that be a good combo? Would i still need actinics or would this be ok on it's own? The reason i didn't really want to do it this way was the heat...

Nope, tried that. The price on a 400watt sunmaster cool deluxe (6500k) from a hydroponics shop was $135. Where i can get a 400watt Iwasaki for $112. The ballast is the same though, $60.

Des, you have to wait for the skimmer to form a film inside. A kind f slim then it gets working good. Took mine 2-3 days.
