Diatom powder filter
I would say your damed if you do and damed if you dont, I sugest a closed system(bucket and filter) and use oh natural filter, Diatom powder filter.
Im just guessing but I think the worst...

Need wave bucket design

Marine enamel
I used marine enamel everywhere! no problems after nine months, I was under the understanding that it has bad chemicals for fungus but when it dry's it is inert.... The problem is! dont use it...

Its all part of the game.... :P If its not pouring out an overflow, the protein skimmer is siphoning it out of the sump onto the floor, a bad plumbing seal, the list goes on...
