What kind of coral is it? Depending on which type, it may be able to fend for itself. Kalk paste might work to get rid of them if you want them completely gone.

I agree, three DI canisters seems pretty redundant. One will work just fine and you can always replace the resin a year or more (or whenever) down the road when it starts to creep.

That's a beautiful specimen! I saw some elegance while I was at ORG in April but yours is a cut above. They do have some gorgeous corals there. Definitely a great gift. Best of luck with it.

I'm a fan of the finer stuff personally. I started with some coarse aragonite but after an upgrade I switched to the oolitic aragonite sand, which looks nicer.
