It would be better to rip it completely apart to ensure that it is sealed completely. What size tank is it? You dont really need a jig, cut a piece of ridged pink insulation to the size of the tank...

I guess its all a lot of personal prefference to what salt we all use but for me it does come down to cost somewhat. I started with IO in my first reef tank but then was introduced to Reef Crystals....
