drop of olive oil on the hinge. Works great, reef safe. Been using the same cutters now for 20 years. And, if I ever eat them, they'll taste good and provide lots of iron.

As for rust, that wouldn't do it. I have hose clamps in my sump that have been there for years. Rusted solid. No issues. I also have add magnets get exposed and rust up, again, no issues.

You don't have blue cloves yet. Sure, maybe a little cluster, but when they cover every inch of rock, sand, snails, hermits and glass in the tank, you'll want to kill them too :)
