I have a Ca reactor built from Barr and I can say the quality is exceptional. It looks to be the same for this skimmer. $500 is a great deal.

Ha, that's neat. Do they both go in or just the female ? A little risky for sure, but you don't see a clam slam totally shut close very often. Just a little bit when they adjust or clean themselves...

They have a neat personality, kinda like a little pet dog in a tank. Love their eye movement when they lay around observing everything, but ya soft bodied shrimp won't last.

Depends, what are you planning on keeping ? What is the depth of your tank (and future)?For right now it sounds like over kill. I think 250's would be a better choice and a lot less power...
