Very true. If you do add more rock in the future, don't add to much uncured at one time, or you might get an nitrogen cycle spike from the die off. I would fully cure it first, or add dry.

Visual light doesn't necessarily mean anything, the glass is going to be filtering the light, whereas eggcrate is not.

I don't know if this is a problem or not, but it potentially is, I don't know.

Its identical, just tap into whichever cold water line is closest and most convenient. Installing a Y adapter is simpler than plumbing in under your sink though...

I have heard of tanks hitting 85 for a while without any ill effects, so 86 sounds like a decent "max".

Anything over 80 and I would panic, because my tank temp doesn't ever go over 78.

From your tank pics it looks like 2 holes are almost against the back wall.
