Assuming that the line was primed properly and there isn't air sitting someplace occasionally being dragged into the pump, you might want to try plugging the C/L returns and then while under pressure...

You could be asking for trouble. during a power out, depending on the level the tank falls to. when power returns the C/L pump will kick in and potentially drain the over flow box before the sump...
