Pop-eye can be caused by many things - bad water quality, he hit himself, bacterial infection etc. It is not contagious, and can be treated...

The tank is 48x18x22. . . I think that at the centre it is 22, but I will double check when I'm off work. I got those numbers off the all-glass website.
