I would definitely be looking for something that let me turn on my actinics before my MH and have them turn off later as well (dawn/dusk affect).

Light timers

I'm just using your basic rotary light timers with the coloured pegs for on and off times. I've got 2 so I can do dawn/dusk with my actinics and MH. Does anybody else use something better?

Question What sand for remote DSB

Howdy,

I'm thinking of putting a remote DSB on my new 75G. I've read that you can use regular silica play sand without silica, or other, issues. Has anyone used this? Any comments or experience?

Are you able to vacuum out crud without sucking the sand out too? I do this with my FW tanks all the time but the substrate is pebbles, not sand.

Substrate

Hi again,

What I was thinking of doing is putting eggcrate on the bottom, as a base for my rock, and then putting the 1" substrate in to cover it. Does that make sense?
