Made a mistake w/ the measurements. They're actually 16" ttl length. So end to end, they would only total 32'' . I still have a good 14" gap in between. I was thinking of replacing them with 55W...

How about trying a (white) 1"...

How about trying a (white) 1" coupling with female threads on both ends, so one end is attached to the pump and the other to a 1" male thread to flex barb. Hope that works.
