skimmer only systems
With an good amount of LR or LS, a skimmer is really all you need for nice stable system. Some even run systems without skimmers.

MH lighting
80 bucks actually seems a bit much for a bare 400 W ballast.
A good brand name for ballasts would be advance, which is available at a few places in the Lower mainland.

This is actually a serious concern.
What do you do with XENIA (elongota).. it's everywhere. I think I have like 40 stalks... should you prune like a tree?

For those in Vancouver: Westcoast Lighting in PoCo, sells many good industrial lighting supplies.. Mainly Advance Ballasts, which are preferred.
