Question about SPS
 

Ok, this may be a weird question, but I'm going to ask. When a SPS coral is refered to as "Mother Colonies", do they or can they grow from a small frag? Or is it something different?

As far as I am aware, frags grow to become mother colonies.
Mother colonies are then fragmented to produce little frags.

Right. Mother colonies are what provide small (daughter) frags. How they get to be large colonies doesn't matter, but many do start as frags.
