Please ID this alien hitch hiker!
Seen this, almost had a heart attack. One of the main reasons (other than cost) I started with dry rock was to avoid pests lol; and I seem to have the weirdest stuff!
What is it?? It lives in a trapdoor.. Looks like a little garbage can with a lid. It's fleshy inside.. Is it some kind of mollusc? I have not a clue.. Its bright red. What is this beast?!?! It opens and closes it's door real fast.. I poked it a few times with my feeding tongs. CREEPY http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ps0ab0d2ce.jpg |
Vermatid maybe, does it send out a fishing line?
|
No.. it is not a vermatid. That red tube thing you see is like a fleshy breathing tube. It has a bigger red body inside
It's little house is about the size of my thumbnail, and it's a good size. It "breathes" if that makes sense. Seems to be filtering water. |
Sea squirt maybe?
|
KRAKEN!Where the ...is Perseus:biggrin:(sorry)
|
Hmm It does sorta look like some of the sea squirts.. But they seem to be out in the open. This guy has his little 'box' with his little lid on it that he lives in.
And LOL purewater |
are you able to get a clearer pic?I know it's probably in the non photo zone:biggrin:
|
It look like a mandarin poking it's head out. Uh. Yea. I guess a better pic if possible. Lol.
Looks like your camera chose to focus on the stuff behind. |
It hates me.. it has some intelligence of some sort; I got that rock about a month ago with those shrooms on it. I had it facing the other direction forever (because the shrooms are on the other side) and tonight I seen something red while I was fishing a lame snail from the back and I flipped it around. Everytime I get close to it, it runs back into it's little hidey hole.
However I will try to get a better pic tomorrow. By the time I noticed it; dusk/dawn lights were already on so picture quality is crap. |

What do you mean runs back into its cave?? It comes right out? Moves around?? Or just extend from tube and retract back into a tube? |
