Source for lime
I need to get started with some calcium supplements on my tank, but I have not been able to come up with a source for lime yet. I want to use a Kalkwasser mix in my auto top off tub, but would like to find a cheap source of lime to do so. I have been searching for the stuff all over the place, but so far no luck.
Where do you get yours in Calgary? |
Supposedly pickling lime is a banned food substance in Canada, so you won't actually find that anywhere, unfortunately. Unless you go to the U.S. and bring some back yourself.
That said, check with Canadian Man to see if he has any left (since he had done just that at one point). Most of the kalk I'm using right now I just picked up from people who decided not to use kalk anymore ... so I'm not the best person to ask where to get the stuff at a store ... but when I do run out I was just going to order a big tub of kalk from www.mops.ca. Something like this: http://www.mops.ca/cgi-bin/SoftCart....5e8+1085784432 Hope this helps... |
Well that might explain why I can't seem to find it here. All I get is strange stares when I ask for it at the stores. I will have to pick some up when I'm down south this summer. I'll be on my motorcycle though, so unfortunately I won't be able to bring back a huge stockpile. For now I guess I'll just have to go with the expensive stuff.

Hehe, you sure you don't want to take one of them motorcycle trailers and load up?
