Name that zoa!

close substitutes. Problem is I don't know the species I received.

1st up is this fantastic orange colony, which I suspected need to be fed. They kinda glow very faint green when under the moonlights.

2nd up is this small colony of fluorescent orange tipped zoas, and one green they glow very bright under my moonlights.

I also got this little guy, the black percula, who after an hour now won't leave my other clown fishes side. Eating fine and looking good. Now that my tank is reasonably stocked any new additions will be quarantined for at least 3 weeks.

The first one looks like a sun coral to me. Yes it needs each individual polyp fed. I used to squirt mine with some mysis when they polyps were open. beautiful coral but they do take some work to keep healthy

The first picture looks like a sun coral to me. There should be thread on how to feed it or you can ask Denny (reefwars). Good luck.

+1 to the above ^^^

The zoas are a lunar morph, lots of stuff along this line has been coming into Calgary as of late. Luckily these tend to be a little more resilient than a bunch of the zoas out there.

Try turning down the flow and spot feeding them small particulate food, they should exhibit some sort of feeding response.

First one is def. a sun coral, I've never had luck with these as they require very regular feeding. Cutting a 2l bottle in half to protect it from fish/ shrimp will allow you to feed it a little easier.

spit.fire 03-06-2013 11:09 PM

But guys, we haven't named the zoas yet! I know they are a Lunar morph but I think,we should name them Frank. They look like a Frank to me.

Btw... +1 sun coral

It's boring when everybody has the same answer

Anybody have an ID for number 2? Or more information on the lunar morph like lighting or flow? I have an open canvas as far as space goes.

I worked for a guy called frank before, he more resembled a green clown goby. These so called sun coral, if that is indeed what they are  look more like a Penelope!
