Level tank
I leak tested my 187 gallon aquarium last weekend and my tank was level.
This weekend I started filling the aquarium with RODI water. The tank is about 3/4 full and I decided to stick the level back on the aquarium. Left to right it was perfectly level. Front to back the bubble was in between the lines but not perfectly center. I took out a measuring tape and measured the top of the water line to the top of the aquarium. Left to right they measured the same distance. Front to back the measurements were off about 1/8". Is this going to be a problem going forward? I am going to fill the tank completely to see if it levels out on its own. The tank is sitting in my basement ontop of the laminate flooring on top off concrete floor. Thanks for looking. |
Should be fine. I had one tank that was 1/2" out

Kinda weird that i'd be out that much on lino and cement. Must be something soft underneath the tank. What kind of stand is it on...or just the lino and cement?

1/8" is not a big deal but having the tank on laminate floor is a bad idea unless it not the floating type of laminate. Unless it doesn't matter to you that much, the laminate will want to expand & contract with room temp changes & with the tank weight on it you might have a little issue with the joints buckling. I do speak from experience on this matter, bad experience that is.
Also the unlevel could be caused by the laminat compressing on the outer edges if that's the way it's leaning. |

Maybe it is just your level ? It's easy to be a little out like that ..... Read with one side pointed to the right and then flip sides and check again ,although I wouldn't be worried about an 1/8

mine is out more than that probably closer to 1/2" no problems. Mine was because of the nailer board under the carpet in the basement. It was perfectly level until it was full for about a week

You will be OK, my rank is off a bit ROM left to right (5 foot tank), and I haven't had any issues for over 4 years its been running
|
Thanks everyone.....
I appreciate the input! |
Mine has been out by 1/2" for the past 3 years. Still seems to be holding water just fine. Of course now I probably jinxed myself..
