my 360 viewing 120 build.
so i guess i should show off my 120 build. this was a cheap setup, i think all and all i ended up putting less than $400 into this to get it up and running (that doesnt include the badboy light fixture). since this is my first build thread, i really dont even know where to start... the tank is already running in my living room so this should be a pretty quick thread. lets start with some pictures!
this is my stand (this is actually when i was building it for my 80 gallon but then found a 120 and just continued a bit larger). is just some junk lumber i found laying around my yard wrapped with my kids old bunk beds... http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5334021d.jpg and one from the back side with a little bit of stain. im just fitting the panel to see how it fits in my room (if you look to the back you can see my ghetto 33 with fuge build...). http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps353a1ffd.jpg and another with a sheet of glass. was getting a feel for the size difference this point! http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psa12b4c80.jpg |
then we jump into placing the tank on the stand for testing with water (out safely in the shop obviously).
http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6f78dac.jpg and then in the living room http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4699de52.jpg here i was fitting the door and such, so not fully stained yet http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9c18681e.jpg |
Hmmm that tank style looks familiar. Looks like one built by a builder in Edmonton.

i dont know what i was doing here? what i do know is i was here alone with the twins (my youngest of the 6 kids...). is it bad that i used the tank for my babysitter? i think he wanted to go swimming or something (i really dont know why he was taking his clothes off)?
http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3b18dca3.jpg and now hes chillin with the new tank... http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psc5b94981.jpg this is where i drilled some holes http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...pscdde736a.jpg it took my forever to decide on my overflow and where to drill the tank... in the end i decided on this dual (kind of) overflow in the center of the tank for 360 viewing opportunities. http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps766398bc.jpg |

this is how it actually sits in my room now
http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps78bbb0c1.jpg and this is what i made for my sump http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psd4959575.jpg http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...pse3fe508b.jpg http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2a5e69e5.jpg this next one is the sump in the stand, i think maybe some small species tank or something? also still dont have the door liner in or stained yet in this pic (you can see it in the firs pic of this post). actually still isnt installed to this day... i will do it tho (i keep telling myself...) http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psafee07aa.jpg |
heres a random picture to show how my "dual overflow" is actually just one
http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...ps34706b7c.jpg and filling it with sand and water http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/...psef08f680.jpg what i didnt get pictures of is the pipe maze under the sand for my ribbon eel. the sump/dt (known now as the panorama) i was able to get running some time before the rest (mainly due to a friends tank crash and needing space to hold their stuff) you wouldnt believe the free stuff i ended up with that day! |
wow that is looking awesome .
I will be sweet to be able to look from all sides . great idea . I like the window in throught the stand too .. right on |
