where are you getting your HQI stuff?
 

whether its for a big or small tank, one thing ive decided (for the time being :rolleyes: :lol: ) is to go 250W DE.

so where are you guys getting your HQI stuff? ballasts, sockets, reflectors, pendants?

and are you happy with your set up? or is there any thing you would change/improve?

right now i am thinking of, reefoptixIII reflector, hamilton 14k, undecided ballast.

any thoughts?

and pics of both your setup and tank, along with lighting specs (ballast, bulb, etc) would be appreciative.

i am thinking for a small tank, i'd do a top down tank and have the pendant suspended from the ceiling. anybody here doin that?

and if time permits (life is pretty hectic right now) and you guys let me, i would like to visit a few of you to see and judge the color and intensity of the lighting for myself. cuz we all know lighting boils down to personal preference.

for those of you have seen my 180, you know its a ghetto set up. this time around i'd like to build a decent stand and bluen (is that even a real word?) the light up, just for aesthetics.

i know Sam is running them, anyone else?

anyone use the "aqualine 10000" (13k bulb)? just saw them on ebay. sounds good.... 10k is not white enough for me, and i think the 14k is a tad too blue for my preference.

J&L sells the dual PFO HQI ballast for 309.00 I think.. not going to be able to do it much cheeper yourself. you might save 30 bucks but won't be a nice.

I've got the Reef Optix IIIs on a dual Bluewave VII ballast with Ushio 10Ks. They seem to be working fine.

I'm running a T5 actinic as well.

oh yeah...I got the set-up from Salt Water Connection.

No, I'm using actinic lighting as well.

I got my PFO 250W DE pendants and HQI ballasts from JL, and I ordered 20000K AB DEBs from MarineDepot.

I personally don't think it's too blue. I am running actinics VHOs as well....
