Brine shrimp hatcher

I was at a LFS and noticed a HOB brine shrimp hatcher. It claimed to raise brine shrimp and they can enter the DT on their own. Has anyone have any experience with these or can give me the good and the bad?

That's quite the rig,but brine shrimp are pretty low tech.A pop bottle works just fine:biggrin:

Is this something that will feed my fish over a few days? (Just thinking about holidays)

Whatever you end up doing i wouldnt hatch them in there. I got good results with pop bottles and low salt water. Its pretty dirty stuff though with egg casings and such and wouldnt want that in my tank. Curious what people say though. Maybe good when there hatched to transfer?

The egg casings are very dangerous to fish,so I would hatch them remotely and add them after they've been screened.

Here is some reading to build your own hatchery and rearing to adults as well.
As mentioned, low tech

Never let hatching water contact tank water as brine shrimp cysts are known to harbour nasty bacteria.
I either sterilize or decapp my cysts before hatching, then grow them out for a day so they develop a digestive tract to be able to eat on the next day when I then enrich them for two 12 hour stages with new water and enrichment for each stage.
