Coraline Algae
Does anyone do anything to boost the coraline algae in their tanks?
|
i was told by someone that increasing your magnesium helps.
|
So just get a supplement for it?

In all reality just keep the big 3 (ca, alk and mag) at appropriate levels and it will grow.
Just watch what you wish for I wanted coraline to grow sooo bad for years but now that my levels are good it grows like crazy and I hate the stuff. It's terrible to clean off the glass and clogs the live rock out.... Now I don't want any to grow |
The best product is time. Just wait and it will grow. Then you'll post asking how to get rid of it :) As it grows on the glass, scrape it with the side of your scraper and the "dust" will seed other areas. Spend your money and real supplies like salt and Ca/alk supplements.

A good source of mag is Epsom salts mixed with Absolute Zero Meltdown. If I remember correctly it's 11 parts Ice Melter to 1 part Epsom Salts. Everyone gets scared and stays away as soon as you mention using something you throw on your driveway but trust me it works great as a surce of mag.
