best light

Good day everyone, just wondering what is the best light to place over my new refuge that I will be setting up pretty soon. Thanks.

I just use a constuction grade clamp on fixture (Home depot) with a 6500k phillips power compact bulb. Grows my chaeto really fast.

The best? I'd say the GHL Mitras is a pretty nice unit. Might be a little overkill on a fuge, but I don't know how you like to spend money.

The plus side is it can grow anything from coral to macros, and probably tomatoes pretty darn good also.

If your just growing algae I would say a cheap light from Home Depot (or the like) is the best. Cheap bulbs have terrible spectrums that are perfect for growing algae

Those daylight CFL , phillips from HD work excellent for growing cheato. Have the fuge light on a reverse light cycle than your display tank.
So that the light is on in the fuge at night and the DT is on during the day. That will minimize the ph swings.

This is what I use over my fuge http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/vt...2+Inch%29.html it's a bit pricey though...

Well thank you everyone, I will go with the CFL bulb I guess if it is working for most of you.
