Sand Removal

I am thinking of taking out my sand bed and going bare bottom, but want to know the best way to go about it, any thoughts?

Gravel cleaner, suck it all up

I used a 3/4" hose. Into a bucket. I did it at water change time and spanned th removal over three waterchanges

+1 but don't do it all at once, I did mine a while back over 2 weeks(a few water changes) removed my DSB and went barebottom. My tanks small so I just did sections at a time. Love the look now, and maintenance is a breeze, just sypon up what settles that the skimmer missed with water changes.

I'm thinking about doing the same. Thanks for asking this question.

your welcome Reefgirl, I think by having a bare bottom it will be alot easier to suck up the "crap" when doing a water change, therefore keeping the tank water cleaner and less problems with nutrients.
