Hi There, just getting into my reef tank again... need help with an ID or some info about the picture. It looks like a mouth with teeth!!?? Hammer coral?

Tried googling it without any success.

Looks like it could be a branching hammer coral.

Here's a healthy looking one for comparison.

Yours looks like it might not be so happy.

Yep looks like a sick hammer

Ahh a BRANCHING hammer... makes sense.

I just picked up the frag the other day so it'll need a little time to adjust in it's new home. TLC!

I'll move it down where there is less light and slowly move it back up the tank.

I inquired about the same hammer..... I asked for pics to see if it was healthy and never got them. It has receded from the skeleton a lot and doesn't look healthy....

If its unhealthy a move to a new tank could kill it. It doesn't look very healthy or happy.

I wish you the best & I am glad I did not buy that one.

I hope it takes to your tank quickly and that you tank is healthy for it, if not, it might not make it.

I now know why the seller didn't comply with my requests while he was selling....

I don't think its going to die or is in bad shape. Small hammers/frogspawn generally gets to look dead when they are not inflated. My frogspawn, when it was tiny tiny like the one being talked about here, used to look like dead at night.

Put it in low flow and medium light and see how it does :)

yea, my tank is pretty stable. I'm sure it'll be OK with a little attention...

when it's big a beautiful, i'll post updated pics :)

edit: moved to medium light and low flow area of tank to give it some breathing room.
