Good old Mitch
Pisces had a decent sale on 55 gallons for $60 so I bought my second quarantine tank there. I knew it would be a bow valley or B&I or whatever Mitch is using these days but I figured it's a just a quarantine tank so whatever's cheap. Actually ended up being a 46 gallon but whatever, in the end the tank is fine. The problem relates to the lids which again bought at Pisces cause I was there, pretty much same price as the tank itself but whatever. Open them up today and too my amazement, just when you thought the guy couldn't get any cheaper, this what they look like assembled.

Ugh, what a PITA that will be to keep clean from salt creep.

Are those scratches by the hinges?
Either way its a POS. |
not scratches, leftover from the tape they used to hold it all together. The glass is pretty rough though sporting a decent frost look, edges pretty much garbage and not even cut straight as when put on the tank it's a decent 1/2" out on one side. Overall complete garbage, going back along with a message to forward on to douchebag.

Big Al's has a decent selection of the Marineland tops, if I remember correctly. |
All the glass lids in box comes like that so that people can easily cut to fit what's in the back. Prices are increasing while the quality is decreasing; that's how they are balancing supply and demand :P

Seems like a bit of a wishy washy review.... speak your mind.

Sorry to see that Steve. Bunch of junk for sure. I never ever venture up to that place. Hate it in a bad way. |

The one I have has full hinge. I guess pisces made it out themselves, selling it as an "exclusive" with the price tag of gold. |
In all fairness, the hinge being partial pieces like that is the only way that it would bend. I had a lid from there on my 33gallon, that wouldn't bend. every time you tried to lift the lid, the middle section would lift with it.
I bent it back and forth probably a hundred times and it still wouldn't soften up to the point where it would work well. As for cutting it crooked that's a different matter. Some would say be glad that its not a shower door. ie textured/frosted. |
